Russ Hodges and Lon Simmons teamed to broadcast San Francisco Giants baseball from 1958 until Hodges' untimely passing in 1970. Hodges, of course, had already cemented his place in broadcasting history with his call of Bobby Thompson's pennant-winning home run in 1951. Simmons went on to win over more Bay Area fans by broadcasting San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Athletics games in the 80s. This duo described some of the biggest moments in sports history, including: -Willie Mays' 300th stolen base, making him the first player ever with 300 HR and 300 SB -Mays' 1954 World Series catch, the most famous catch in baseball history -The famous 2nd meeting between Cassius Clay (AKA Muhammad Ali) and Sonny Liston -Rickey Henderson breaking Lou Brock's single-season stolen base record in 1982 (on a pitchout) -Joe Montana's game-winning touchdown pass to John Taylor in Superbowl XXIII
